Solarize Augusta planning now underway!

This is an opportunity for homeowners in Augusta County, Waynesboro, and Staunton to participate in a "group buy" for solar electric system installs. An initial planning meeting will be held Thursday, January 8th, 2015, 6:30 PM, at the Augusta County Library, 1759 Jefferson Highway (Rt 250), Fishersville, VA 22939.

Once interest is established, other groups (VA SUN and Community Power Network) will handle a lot of the grunt work for getting folks formally signed up at meetings throughout the region this spring & summer. Visit the Solarize Harrisonburg and Solarize Roanoke web sites for examples of similar programs started last year. Contact Solarize Augusta organizer Sandy Greene at 540-234-9336 or 487-1224 if you have any questions.

Started in 2011, the annual (and free!) Shenandoah Valley Solar Open House Tour provides the public an opportunity to tour innovative local homes and buildings to see how solar energy is being used. Over 40 locations have been on display so far, including seventeen locations in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Augusta County, Waynesboro, Staunton, and the Roanoke Region available on the 2013 tour. Presented in conjunction with the ASES National Solar Tour, the world's largest grassroots solar event. Stay tuned for details of the October 2015 Valley Solar Tour!
